In Episode 15 of The Med Ad News Show, Managing Editor Joshua Slatko is joined by Ilyssa Levins and Wayne Pines of the Center for Communications Compliance and Scott Cotherman, CEO, CAHG, the first healthcare advertising agency to become fully certified in regulatory compliance for advertising and promotion through the CCC. The group examines the pressure on pharma ad agencies to ensure regulatory compliance is a priority, as increasing government oversight is causing clients to ask agencies to demonstrate their strength and expertise in the subject. Ms. Levins believes that regulatory compliance training is no longer enough; agencies will need to test employees to confirm they can apply their knowledge to everyday, tactical executions to support their clients’ businesses. Mr. Pines provides a historical look at the government’s increasing level of regulatory action, and Mr. Cotherman offers insight from the agency side about minimizing risks while still creating innovative marketing strategies.
